Mathematical Contest in Modeling (MCM)

Competed on a team with two other SPU students in the international COMAP MCM competition. Built a mathematical model describing carbon sequestration in forests and forest products over time, then created a decision matrix model for developing forest management plans and wrote a paper detailing our methodology and findings on select case studies. Awarded an honorable mention. Competed again in 2023, using a Multiple Linear Regression ML technique to predict and analyze light pollution risk for a variety of areas and create a risk function to choose best solution(s). Awarded Finalist and Mathematical Association of America award.
